Cool days
It has been remarkably cool weatherwise here for the locals but great for us. We were the only ones swimming in the ocean yesterday.......huge waves and very windy......well, actually I was just standing and jumping in the waves. These crocs weren't in the same water with us.....we saw these guys day before.

Roos!
These roos had just had breakfast and were sleeping it off. At Currumbin wildlife sanctuary. I don't know why but these are my favourite animals here. It's like there were leftover parts and they got put into the roo, the huge legs, the pouch, the too short arms. There is only one alpha male and they have to box and scratch each other on the chest to gain their dominance. One poor bugger was all cut up. One male had his ears chewed off. Hmpf!

Surfers Paradise Centre
Shopping and entertainment area........ Wandered around watching all the schoolies. Everyone talks about them and there are bus loads of them tee-shirts for them saying schoolies 2011 but we haven't quite figured out who they are.
Australia has Ugg stores all over though I can't imagine wearing Ugg stuff here. Here are some purchases I've made too.

Windy days
It is amazingly windy today. So windy that swimming in the ocean was impossible. The water was going sideways but the guys surfing with a kite were really flying. That was fun to watch. I am starting to feel really relaxed. That means I am empty of words too. Moving slow and leisurely.

Crikey!
We've been out all day.......on a bus around the area.......great residences, gardens.....Bond University......Robina town centre. Couldn't figure out how to buy a regular coffee. They have short black and long black and white coffee. My mum ordered a white coffee and got something that looked like a cross between a cappuccino and a latte with a really pretty leaf design swirled on top. Most everyone drinks instant coffee at home and then when out they have the fancy, expensive coffees. The girl serving couldn't fathom that I wouldn't know what all the coffees were. In some parts they call water Adam's ale.......that would be better for me.....by crikey!
Today is the first day of summer here........and super windy. It feels like I have sand everywhere, on my legs, in my pockets, in my hair, and my hair tastes salty as my one longer tuft keeps blowing in the wind and lands on my lips.

Each alone and together.
I have some alone time. Yippee! It's 8 am. I was woken up by Don at 4:30 am so we could walk along the beach. We saw the sun come up. It's amazing how people are walking, jogging, jumping in the water at that time of the morning. On the walk back we went through the bird park where the male peacock did this awesome dance, shouting and twirling, and it sounded like he was yelling painfully ouww, as in ouch. The female thought he was acting a little ridiculously and walked away pretending she didn't even notice him. I told Don that if he wants my attention I wouldn't mind a bit of similar display. Anyway, alone time is precious to come by. There is such beauty in sitting alone and being able to just watch the breath and let the body relax. No one that I need to listen to. Just to pause and write a few words........watch the lizard down below (it feels safe up on the balcony)..........to sip some juice and feel the coolness flow down my throat.........notice the breath again.......
It's more difficult to feel and see the beauty of the moment with lots happening around me, especially interacting with people.
Here is a photo of the newest shark biscuit ready to go surfing.
